I think things are semi-normal now. I've mostly recovered from the Olympics but now I'm working daily on things to do with moving to Haiti. I have a 2 page sheet listed as "logistics" that covers everything from travel clinic (shots), registering with the Canadian government, healthcare, storage, yard sale and final fundraising.
I just found out that 2 of the 4 homes at the orphanage (the 2 that arerented) have been checked and have been deemed unusable/unsafe. There have been over 50 aftershocks since the earthquake (although I don't understand how 5.8 is an AFTERSHOCK) so everyone has to be moved out. I hope to get to talk to someone tomorrow that can let me know what that means. I may need to take a tent with me!! One of the results of this is that all mission trips have been cancelled at this point as we now have no place to house volunteers! OR OUR CHILDREN! I'll keep you posted.
I'm still trying to build my support team of people who want to be involved in helping in Haiti. Tax receipts are available for donations. Please let me know if you want to donate or sponsor me!
Take care,
Jen
